| High visit at the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS) in Rosenheim |
For Michael Müller - Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Environment Ministery – the solution of traffic problems in the Alps is given special emphasis. “If we do not solve these traffic problems in the sensitive Alps, we will not manage to solve this kind of problem in other regions of Europe” says Müller. He agreed with Karl Fischer - General Manager of the Logistik-Kompetenz-Zentrum (LKZ) - that especially in the Alpine Space shifting freight traffic from road to rail can enormously contribute to the reduction of harmful substances. At this place, the large European project Alpine Freight Railway (AlpFRail) can already refer to great successes and concrete drafts for the implementation of shifting freight from road to rail.
This large project AlpFRail was supported by the EU within the scope of the programme Interreg IIIB and 16 partners of the whole Alpine Space. In Germany, the project was in particular supported by a sponsorship from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs within the scope of the "Bundesprogramm transnationale Zusammenarbeit". Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg supported the project, too.
