Capacity on the rail will be expanded considerably!

At the yearly excursion of the German Scientific Traffic Association (DVWG) the nearly 50 Participants were presented with very encouraging news.
Mr. Johann Herdina, chairman of the Brenner Railway Association (BEG) presented the participants from Bavaria the actual situation and volume of the construction work for the various sections for the inflow of the Brenner basic-tunnel:
- Volume of investment for the four track tunnel extension at the lower Inntal:
1,8 Mrd. €
- All works proceed according to schedule
- Completion will be to schedule in 2011
Afterwards, the participants have been able to assure themselves of the progress made by visiting the building lot in the tunnel Stans-Terfen. Karl Fischer, chairman of the Logistic-Kompetenz-Zentrum Prien (LKZ) and project leader of the European Project Alpine Freight Railway (AlpFRail) brought along a pickaxe and lend a hand to assist the Tyrolyse neighbours to bring more rapidly the constantly increasing freight traffic from the road onto the rail.
